Does anyone know where to find a braille label kit for a microwave? I think APH used to sell one, but when I looked on their site I didn't see it.
It said to use the Feel N Peel stickers, but those are too large. The microwave kit had smaller stickers that were clear so they didn't affect the printed numbers on the interface.
I've never used a specialized kit. I've just always bought smaller sized dots.
How small do you need them to be?
Um. i am not sure. Typical microwave size I guess. It's a relatively small microwave; the size that typical colleges allow in dorm rooms.
Yeah, I've always just used smaller dots, they've never been a problem as far
as I've known. I can't remember the website I got them off, but I can look if you
want.
Ok. I will do that then. I just need a marking of some kind. It doesn't have to have the button names necessarily. I don't even use most of the buttons; just the numbers, clear, and start.
I used High Mark on mine. I just squeezed out a dot on the button and waited for it to dry, about 24 hours I think. I just marked the buttons and the star, resume, and clear. So far it's worked great.t
i use tape lol but some on 5 and start. then I'm good to go.
hashtag the eazy way lol
Yes, a plain clear tape will do the trick. I have my own microwave marked with Braille labeling tape on 1,3, 7, and 9 and then start and clear and also the timer button as well as the power level button.
If I'm going to be at someone else's house for a couple of days, though, we slap some clear tape on 1 3 5 7 and 9 and start and clear.
Clear tape? I like that idea...never thought of that. Grood idea.
Funny you should mention tape colors. A specialist came out to see what I need, and told me that clear is best, especially if you aren't the only one using the microwave or appliance that needs labeling.
Just a small piece of tape on 5 and start has always worked well; I see someone else uses this system, too. *smile*
Its amazing what one can do with tape. Its the cheapest marking thing I know
of. I use it on all sorts of things. The only downside is that it doesn't always
stick very well. You can also find some great marking stuff at art supply stores.
Rubber cement, certain paints, hot glue, those little googly eyes that have peel
and stick on the back of them? Lots of choices, and much cheaper than actual
labeling supplies.
I would use tape, but it would inevitably end up falling off. So I just keep a sheet of bump dot things handy for those types of projects.
Thank you guys. I have now an idea of how to proceed.
I use tape on my microwave at home now, and think I shall try it or some other clear, sticky thing to label the buttons I need. Right now I have the 2, 0, and start marked, but may add a couple more to make it easier.
I will definitely use clear because my roommate will also be using the microwave.
